Salmon: October Thru December
Steelhead: December Thru March

Located just over the Oregon/California border, the Chetco River is a good producing salmon and steelhead river. The salmon are usually in the 15-25 pound range and the steelhead are in the 8-12 pound range with bigger fish common.

The close proximity of the Chetco to the Smith River makes it nice in that this gives an angler options to go to the river that is fishing better. A lot of people also like the variety of fishing the Chetco one day and the Smith the next.
